Mia Hamm was born on March 17, 1972, in Selma, Alabama. Mia is one of the most famous women soccer players in the world. She used to be on the United States' Women's Soccer Team. Hamm’s position in soccer was a forward.
Hamm played for the U.S. national team when she was only 15 years old. In 1997, her brother Garret died. Mia felt a great deal of pain because he was one of her heroes.
She did not quit soccer and tried to get beyond the pain, but she still thinks of him often. Mia Hamm has led the United States Women’s soccer team to a gold medal in the Olympics. She has received many awards for being the best woman’s soccer player. Mia Hamm retired from soccer with one hundred fifty-eight goals.
