Golda Meir, Prime Minister of Israel, was born on May 3, 1898, in Kiev, Russia. Later, Golda and her family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin because in Russia, the family had many problems trying to make money. Another benefit of the immigration to the United States was to allow Golda the opportunity to go to college and become a teacher. In 1915, she became part of an organization called Poalei Zion, Labor Zionist Organization. In 1921, she went to Palestine with her husband, Morris Myerson. Morris died in 1951.
