Winifred Goldring was a famous geologist who achieved many great things. Winifred was born 1 of 9 children. She was a great student and valedictorian. She graduated from one of the best high schools. Then she enrolled in Wellesley College where became interested in geology. After graduating with a major in geology, Winifred began geology, geography, and petrology at Wellesley.
Winifred continued her education at Columbia University and John Hopkins University. She also worked with the New York State Museum. She designed educational exhibits that emphasized public understanding of geology and fossils. She also wrote handbooks on fossils and geology. In 1939, she became the first woman to be the official state paleontologist. She was also the first woman to be elected president of the Paleontological Society.
