Jenny Lind was a wonderful singer, but her life of singing was not always easy. At the age of twelve, she hit a difficult stage where she was unable to sing high notes well. She did not sing much for the next four years, using the time to study instrumental music instead. After she regained her singing ability, she starred for a year and a half in the Stockholm opera. She performed many concerts to raise money to go study music in Paris. When she arrived there, the French teacher was extremely hateful towards her so she returned to Sweden. In 1850, Jenny married Otto Goldschmidt, a famous German pianist. After marrying Otto, Jenny performed less and less, eventually retiring to London. Jenny spent the rest of her life there with her husband until she died in 1887.
