The “Women Warrior” team consisted of three eighth graders and two seventh graders, both of whom were new to the web design class. This group was off to a rocky start, dealing with problems communicating throughout the group, disagreements about the site design, and the frustrations of losing pages and the template over and over again. However, the group members finally put their differences aside and started to work together somewhat smoothly. First, the members all took time to choose the women for the site together. After the women were chosen and divided up, the group all set out to do research. Kelsey and Nina, the team captains, helped out group members by putting their written chunks and pictures on pages for them if they were falling behind or if the pages had been lost. This group also had to redesign the main template a total of seventeen times because of technical difficulties and disagreements within the group. Nina and Kelsey designed these different templates.
Every member on the team used her different strengths to help each other with the various problems and difficulties that came up. Linda helped Kathryn with her computer-related problems, and Kathryn helped Linda improve her written chunks. When they were finished with their assigned work, AnnMarie and Kelsey helped each person in the group with her pages. AnnMarie also stepped in as a captain while Nina was out sick. Nina helped improve and proofread written chunks for the team. At times, the tension between the group became rather intense, but they always found a way to work it out. Nina and Kelsey tried to keep the peace between the group.

In this group, the team members had many different personality types to consider when making important decisions throughout the school year. They also had to consider their different cultural backgrounds and opinions. Three of the members on the team, Linda, AnnMarie, and Nina, have close family ties to Korea, Great Britain, and Italy, respectively. Therefore, each family is familiar with different customs reagarding everyday work ethics. The cultural differences within the groups even affected the women that the team chose to honor in their site. Since there were so many foreign influences in the site, the members realized that great women come from every corner of the earth, not just from the United States. Because of this, this site contains about twenty-five women from countries outside the United States. That is almost fifty percent of the women who make up this site.
During the course of the year, the “Women Warrior” team came to realize that the numerous women included in the site had very different opinions about religion, relationships, and other issues that affect the world each and every day. This group came to respect the views of the individual women on the site, representing them in a factual, unbiased manner. Overall, the group realized that many of the amazing women on the site began their lives similiarly to the group members. Identifying with such influential women became inspiring. Every woman should strive to follow in these famous women’s footsteps to become the next generation of great women. It all starts right now, and we should all be up for the challenge.
