Subject - Nutrition

Grade Level - 7th grade through 12th grade

Objectives-Students will learn what their daily nutrition needs are. Students will learn how well fast food meals contribute to their daily need for nutrients.

Materials-Spreadsheet software & the Internet

Procedures-Students will go to the USDA's web site for nutrition information. After educating themselves on what a healthy diet is from this web site and others, students will see how healthy fast food is. Students will go to the following web sites and compare nutrition information:

McDonalds

Taco Bell

Wendy's

Burger King

Any other local fast food restaurants

The students will then compile this nutrition information into a spreadsheet with information such as saturated fat, calories,

carbohydrates, etc.

By comparing the nutritional information, the students learn how to eat the healthiest food possible at fast food restaurants.

Evaluation-

Have a discussion with the students, asking them if they feel this project will change their future choices of fast food.
