In the food pyramid above the man climbing stairs symbolizes physical activity. You should be active at least sixty minutes every day. As with the old pyramid, the new one has different sections for different food groups. The orange section stands for the grains group. You should eat at least three ounces of whole grains every day. The green is symbolic of the vegetable group. Try to vary the color of your veggies. The fruit group is red. Make sure you are eating a variety of fresh fruits. Yellow is for the smallest group, the oils. Limit your oil intact and make most of it come from fish, nuts, vegetable oils, etc. Blue stands for milk and dairy. You should probably drink 2% milk unless you cannot consume milk, then you should find another calcium source. Last, but certainly not least, is purple. This section is for meat and beans. Choose low fat meats and vary the kinds you eat.
