The Knights Hospitallers were similar to the Knight’s Templar. The Hospitallers would protect Christian Pilgrims once they had gotten to the Holy Land. They built infirmaries to save wounded Pilgrims and, after time, began to guide Pilgrims on their journey to Jerusalem. When their work was finished in Jerusalem, they resettled in Malta. In Malta they fought the Barbary pirates. They also had many encounters with Suleiman the Magnificent, who led the Ottoman Empire.
