Illuminati- Similarities and Connections to Freemasonry
Some conspiracy theorists believe the Illuminati wanted to start a New World Order. In addition, the popular belief is that they meant to do this violently. Also, the founder of the Illuminati, Adam Weishaupt, once a Mason himself, even re- joined the Masons in order to get ideas and new members. Perhaps he even based the Illuminati structure on Masonic ideas. The fact remains that the Masons and the Illuminati have been linked. The Illuminati grew inside of the Masonic organization, a secret society within a secret society. . The Masons are still an active Brotherhood but it is unknown if the Illuminati still exist.
