The Black Panther Party fought alongside groups other than their fellow African American groups. One such group they merged with was the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. In 1967, California was trying to pass a law to outlaw carrying loaded weapons in public. The party protested this and organized a march in which they carried rifles. The following year, Eldridge Cleaver, the Black Panther Party’s Minister of Information, , ran for President of the United States, representing the Peace and Freedom Party, but failed in his efforts |
