Assassins
Assassin members were highly dedicated to their cause. According to one legend, the Assassins kidnapped new members (usually the biggest and strongest they could find) and gave the person a drug. The popular belief is that they used Hashish, although opium and wine are thought to have been used as well. This made them believe that they had awakened in Paradise. It has been said that this “Paradise” they took their victims to was a lush garden filled with women and wine. After waking the victim, the assassins convinced the victom that this was what Paradise was like. They told their victim, that if he ever wanted to go back to Paradise when he died, then he must obey the Assassins’ laws and follow the order of Assassins’. They believed that their leader, Hasan i Sabbah, had the power to open the gates of Heaven. They followed his commands even if those commands led to their deaths.

Unfortunately, the brotherhood, was almost completely destroyed by invading Mongols. Many of the Assassin teachings were destroyed. Much more would be known about the Assassins if they had survived. However some small sects supposedly still exist to this day.
