• Were there any
women of great influence in the church?
Women of great influenced who were
involved with churches, more commonly known as “Church
Mothers”, were very large in number and importance.
Unfortunately, they are not very well known, seeing as they hardly
ever had anything written about them. Recent research has given the
women, known by reference of the few and far between writings of
anonymous philosophers, names and ‘faces’. In fact,
most of the early Church Mothers were martyrs. A woman in the 100
AD era, Blandina, was one of them. Some other important women in
the ancient churches are: Macrina, Perpetua, Felicitas, and Nyssa.
Nyssa, according to the testimony of various authors, was a
respected theologian.
• When, where and how do
Christians come together in their communities?
There are buildings involved in
Christian worship called churches. Generally, the majority of
Christians congregate in these religious places for worship and
celebrations. Connected to these buildings one may often find
libraries, cemeteries, schools, large kitchens and occasionally
shelters for homeless or abused people.
• Are there private schools for
Christian children?
In addition to the many Catholic private
schools in the US, there are very many Christian academies and
learning environments. These schools offer a ‘more
Christian’ environment for learning, one that will teach
children the right way to live and follow Christ’s ways as
well as teaching one regular academic necessities.
