Orthodox Judaism: Workshop 3J

The Torah
Orthodox Judaism, a branch of Judaism, is centered on the literal translation of the Torah. Orthodox Jews are expected to maintain strict observance of the 613 commands and prohibitions contained in the Torah.
Orthodox Jews in black
Orthodox Jews consider themselves to be some of the few remaining supporters of traditional values in our secular world. A little over 10% of the American Jews belong to an Orthodox synagogue.
An exert from the Torah
Most Orthodox Jews live apart from modern civilization and some dress in clothes that may be all black. Orthodox Jews believe that the Torah is a representation of the word of God. They also believe that the Torah means "Written Law" as well as "Oral Law." They are open to the question "What does God require of us?"
