Jewish History: Workshop 5J
Moses, a great leader in Jewish history Manna on the ground
The Jewish people and religion have been persecuted and mocked by members of other religions since the earliest times. Many people have been amazed at the continuation of these people despite the many attempts to destroy them. One of the largest persecutions was the slavery in Egypt. During this time they were slaves building pyramids. After a long time of slavery, God saved them by helping Moses convince the pharaoh to let the people leave Egypt.
As time progressed, the Jewish people wished that they had stayed in Egypt. Conditions were rough in the desert. When they turned to God, he provided them with manna, a flat bread. Finally after wandering for forty years in the desert, the Jews were allowed to enter the Promised Land.

As history continued, many times the Jews would turn from God, and then repent and be saved. This has repeated itself time and time again. In fact, the Jewish people should never have even come into being. Abraham, the father of the Jewish people, and his wife Sarah had no children. It was only in their old age that God allowed them to have a son. With this, the Jewish people began to multiply as God had predicted.

The Jewish people survived for thousands of years without a national homeland. After being driven out of Israel, the Jews did not return until after World War II when a Jewish state of Israel was created for the survivors of the Holocaust.

The Jewish religion has grown both in population and the number of branches in Judaism. Today members of the Jewish faith can be found all around the world.
