Islamic People: Workshop 7I
Growing up Muslim is not an easy task. One has to follow Ramadan, complete the Five Pillars of Islam, give alms to the poor, and perform the prayers daily. However, when one becomes an adult, one follows all regulations out of habit and is known to be a good Muslim.
A Muslim Mother and Father with their Child
Babies are considered gifts from Allah, and birthdays are a time of great rejoicing and merriment. Once a child is born, the shahadah and some verses from the Qur'an are recited to the child. Usually, a devout Muslim recites these. Unlike others, Muslim parents usually wait a week before announcing the child's name to others.

After the parents announce the child's name there is a party with feasting, dancing, and singing.
A Muslim Woman Wearing the Traditional Islamic Hijab
During her lifetime, a woman must wear a hijab for modesty’s sake. Many Muslims argue that the hijab protects women from men. However, others can argue that it should be the woman’s choice whether or not to wear the hijab.
