Islamic History: Workshop 5I
Muhammad was born on the twelfth of Rabi-al Awwal around 570 AD. Muhammad spent his early years in the open air.
When Muhammad was eight, his mother and grandfather died, leaving him in the care of his uncle, Abu Talib. He worked as a shepherd and a tradesman. As he grew older, he was known far and wide as a good and honest man. He was also greatly trusted and many referred to him as the al Amin and al Sodiq.
A Shepherd Like Muhammad
When Muhammad was twenty-five, he became a business manager for a forty year old wealthy widow named Khadijah. She was delighted by profits he earned for her and was easily charmed by his personality and wit. She soon proposed to him, and they had many children. Their most famous child was their daughter, Fatimah, who became a model Muslim in Islamichistory. However, little is known or recorded of her.
