Islamic Beliefs: Workshop 2I
Muslims, like Jews and Buddhists, have certain beliefs. Their most important belief is that Allah is the only god. Muslims think that it is sinful to make idols, let alone worship them. They also believe that Jesus was a prophet like Muhammad, unlike the Christians who believe that Jesus was the son of God.

A Muslim Child At Prayer
This is Abraham. He fathered many children, including Ishmael, who is supposedly the descendant of Muslims.
What Makes Me a Muslim? By Catherine Petrini (2005) says, "Muslims look to an earlier prophet, Abraham, as the father of their faith. Abraham, who lived 4000 years ago, is also the father of Judaism and Christianity... (he) was able to father children in his old age. One of these children was his son Ishmael, whom Muslims claim as their ancestor." (p. 13-14)
