Hinduism, the third largest world
religion, originated in India. It has no creator, no creed, and no
single God. Many of the gods that Hindus worship are helpers of the
three main gods that any one person may worship. These three, Brahman, Vishnu and Shiva, as well as the
others, will be explained in another workshop. Many Hindus do not
worship together in a temple on a regular basis because there is no
tradition telling them to do so. The majority of Hindu people have
a shrine in their own household. The name,
“Hindu”, comes from the River Indus and also
means "of India." Like many eastern religions, Hinduism does not
fit well into the same area as western religions. They have
completely different customs and views of the world as it is
today.
