A young girl, at a local school agreed to a
five-question interview. In her early life, she was raised with
Hindu beliefs, but now, her family is Christian. Because of her
Hindu background, she remembers many Hindu beliefs.
Question
one:
What early Scriptures are
important to majority of the Hindu population?
"Bhagavad Gita. It is the
Hindu bible. It is not like the Christian Bible. During a war many
years ago, when Vishnu attempted to stop a war, his exact words and
actions were recorded. I do not know by whom"
Question
two:
Do all Hindus worship in the
same way, to the same gods?
"A lot of gods, I’m not
sure if all Hindus do worship the same way. Hinduism, to my family,
is much like Christianity, with one god who comes in many
forms."
Question
three:
What do Hindus believe about
life after death?
"I don't know how to explain
it. If our life was good, we live good, we live with Him. If we did
bad, we re-live life on Earth again. Either as a human or animal we
represented most. Say, if you were a glutton, you will re-live life
as a pig."
Question
Four:
Do Hindus believe in Heaven
and Hell?
"Yes. Not sure about
both."
Question
Five:
Were you raised to believe
cows are sacred in India? Why?
"Vishnu loved cows as a child,
and had many. He would let no harm come to his cows. Cows are not
sacred to my family, but we do not hurt them. Nor do we worship
them, for they are not the one, true god."
