A woman being baptized
The Christian people have many milestones in their walk to becoming a strong Christian. One of those milestones is baptism. Baptism is an outward symbol of burying one’s old life and being cleansed of sin and becoming a new person. A person can be baptized when they are a baby and/or when they are an “adult.” If they are baptized as a baby, a preacher sprinkles water over the baby’s head. If a person is baptized as an adult, they are baptized by immersion. If a person is baptized by immersion, they are submerged in water, whether it is in a lake, a river or a baptismal tub. A baptismal tub is a large tub that is kept in a Church and is used especially for baptisms by immersion. Many people are raised in the Christian Church and their parents choose to have them baptized as a baby. Many other people, however, were not raised in a Christian home and they choose to join a church and be baptized.
