Roanoke Culture

Religion
Like the clothing of England during the 16th century, religion in England was also going through some changes. In the early 16th century, the main religion was Roman Catholic. In 1547, religious reforms began. The largest reformation was known as the Protestant Reformation.
Roman Catholic Church
The Protestant Reformation was a movement opposed to the crucial aspects of both the beliefs system and the institutional structure of Roman Catholicism. This reformation was going on during the time the colonists were in Roanoke, so the colonists of Roanoke were still Roman Catholic. Protestant Church
