Arthur Evans holding arifacts Arthur Evans was born in Nash Mills, England. He went to school at Harrow School, Brasenoe College, University of Oxford, and University of Göttingen. In 1884, he became the curator of the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford. During his time as a curator, he became fascinated with inscriptions and discoveries. While there, he also published many books of adventures and discoveries.
