Gone But Not Forgotten

People of Atlantis

Plato
Even though Plato did live in Atlantis he did most of the writing about this lost city. He was one of the greatest writers in history. He had as much power as an Athenian citizen could have without being a ruler. Plato's writings about "political events and intellectual movements of his time" (427-347 BC) affected many readers throughout the ages. Even today, there are still people so influenced by Plato that they called themselves "Platonists." Plato reorganized the way philosophy was studied. Because of that, he was called the "inventor of philosophy." He is one of a few writers from that time period whose writings are still available for us to read.

Minoans
Minoans
The Minoans were a civilization of people which existed in different times between 2050 BC to 1470 BC. Crete, an island in the Mediterranean Sea, was where the Minoans lived during this time period. This culture was sophisticated and peaceful, and they enjoyed a healthy trading economy. The Minoans should not be confused with classical Greeks who came many hundreds of years later.

King Minos, the ruler of the Minoan culture, was believed to have kept a Minotaur in the labyrinth of the palace. The creature took the form of half man/half bull. Legend has it that this beast was slain to save fourteen innocent children.
