If we knew if Atlantis really existed, there would be many different views as to how it was destroyed. Some of these theories are floods, wars, and earthquakes. You can find more about these below. |

One theory is that around 8500 BC, 500,000 elliptical craters formed when comets hit the earth. This terrible explosion devastated many Atlantic coastal regions. Parts of these comets fell close to the Western Atlantic and North Bahaman areas. Tsunami tidal-waves hundreds of meters high were created by some of these pieces of comets. The waves could have temporarily covered some parts of the Caribbean, the Bahamas, as well as some parts of Eastern United States. |

War Theory |

War is another theory of how Atlantis was destroyed. Perhaps the people of Atlantis were trying to take over the entire Mediterranean world, but instead of getting what they wanted, they were defeated by Athenians and their allies. After this war, one of the gods of Atlantis let the little island be destroyed with a flood (See previous flood theory). |
