Ebola

What is Ebola?

Ebola is an extremely contagious disease that is highly fatal. Ebola is one of the two Filoviridae RNA diseases. The two Filoviridae RNA diseases are negative sense RNA viruses that are single stranded. Hemorrhagic fevers are often a result of these two Filoviridae RNA diseases. The Ebola disease lasts from two to twenty-one days. Doctors are unsure why some who get ebola die and others live through the sickness. However, most unfortunate victims of the disease die. It comes from chimpanzees and other monkeys. It is transmitted to humans and comes suddenly and unexpectedly. It has been scientifically shown that those with ebola seemed to lack white blood cells and have more liver enzymes. It was first found in the Democratic Republic of Congo Africa in 1976. It was named after a river in Democratic Republic of Congo. Ebola is an extremely unpleasant disease that usually results in death.

Causes

Those who have the disease ebola pass it to another human through contact with the others blood. African chimpanzees and gorillas are the most common animal carriers of ebola. Those who work with these primates, whether the primate is dead or alive, have been known to catch the disease. Nurses and doctors who have attempted to treat infected people have also been known to become infected with ebola. Ebola is extremely transmittable and is easily passed form one person to another through contact with blood or other bodily fluids.

Treatments
There is no regular treatment for ebola. To help victims of the disease, therapy can by provided.
During this therapy, doctors try to level the patient’s body fluids and electrolytes. They also have
to keep them supplied with oxygen and make sure that their blood pressure is right. Although there
is no specific treatment for ebola, there are methods that doctors use to help those who have ebola.
