Football
On November 12, 1892 the National Football League was brought to the United States. On November 12, 1982 the Allegheny Athletic association was victorious over the Pittsburgh Athletic Club. One of the players, playing in that game, had been given $500 to play. This was just AAA football. Suddenly the idea of paying a player to play would suddenly take on a new role. It would become the NFL. This Football game branched off from two different sports known as Rugby and Soccer. Without the British Army, garrison, Rugby would have never been created and therefore football would have never been created. In the beginning of the development of this sport, little was worn to protect the hard impact of the tackling. In the result of this a total of 18 people were killed playing football.
In the 1860’s equipment was scarce. In fact most football players did not even have a leather helmet. They wore boots, and baggy pants. There was little or no padding. As times evolved equipment began to gradually upgrade. In 1893 a Navy Football Player named, Joseph Reeves, went to a blacksmith and asked him to make him a leather helmet. As the years passed chest padding, and thigh pads would be inserted into the uniform. Finally the helmet would be made of hard sturdy plastic.
Training
The Game of football
is a hard hitting and versatile sport. The game of football is set
in which the offense must drive the football for the length of the
field in order to score. 11 players must always be on the football
field.
Kick Offs-
The ball must be kicked off and must stay in bounds until the opposing team touches the ball, if for instance the player does not kick the ball in bounds then the ball will be place at the receiving team 40 yard line. If the ball goes into the opposing teams end zone then they are forced to take the receiving team is forced to take the ball on the 20 yard line.
Regular downs-
The offense has four downs in which they can advance the ball into scoring range. On these plays most of the penalties can occur. If listed these penalties could amount to ever three pages long. A brief summary will be given. There shall be no unnecessary roughness when dealing with the players. Know one shall cross the line of scrimmage until the play has been called. If the football team is forced into their own end zone and tackled inside their own end zone, it is known as a safety. If there is a personal foul the player will be charged with the penalty, and sometimes can be thrown out of the game. Players can be suspended for terrible acts, such as for illegal use of a drug. Crime and theft is also another act that can lead to suspension.
Today the NFL
consists of 32 teams. The NFL plays a total of 16 games in a
regular season. The players are covered in padding from head to
foot. Like other sports today, football players are becoming greedy
and are leaving their hometown because they want more money. The
NFL draft occurs every year in late April. Each team is given seven
selections of players. College Football is another form of football
today. It is a hard hitting sport as well. It contains many teams.
Many college teams long to get to the National game which is
usually at the Rose Bowl. The Superbow is the National title for
the proffesional athletes, and this event is greatly publacised.
Many argue that Modern Day football just may be the fastest paced,
toughest, and quite possibley the best sport ever to be
created.
