Lion King

The Lion KingOne of our favorite Disney shows and one of the earlier ones was The Lion King. This Broadway play shows the beauty of friendship and the adventure of finding your place in the circle of life. This show also details the story of love, love between friends, family, a father and son, and love of your community. There are many charaters within the story of The Lion King. The lead role is Simba, the son of King Mufasa. Simba falls in love with a lioness named Nala. Both of these characters meet Timon, the Meekrat and Pumbaa the Warthog, who become good friends with them.
This story takes place in a safari where Simba's father, Mufasa, is king. Mufasa's brother Scar is the antagonist of the story. Scar tricks Simba into thinking he killed his father. Now Scar has taken over the safari and Simba is the only one who can change that. The tagline of the show is "Life's greatest adventure is finding your place in the circle of life!"

The actors and actresses have taken the roles of animals to bring the movie to life. The costumes and props are very life like and the "animals" interact with the audience. The Lion King has won six 1998 Tony Awards, including Best New Musical for that year! The show has been taken from the original movie to take peoples' breath away on stage!

The show is not only great acting but it is also composed of popular music. The famous song Can You Feel The Love Tonight, by Elton John and Tim Rice, is performed in this spectacular play as well as The Circle of Life. The show is also made up of many other songs by Lebo M, Marc Mancina, Jay Rifkin, Julie Taymor, and Hans Zimmer. The Lion King was directed by Julie Taymor as well! This show is a great one for children who love animals and who understand the wonderful story hidden behind the curtains.
The Lion King has brought joy to many audiences and hopes to continue doing so. So, go see this spectacular Broadway show to excite your day!
