Hey! My name is Sam. I'm in eighth grade. I am an honor student and part of several clubs my school provides. I have many hobbies too. I love animals. I've had so many pets in my life. Right now I have a dog named Scooter. She is so cute! Scooter is a Westie (West Highland White Terrier) and she is very energetic and playful.
I also enjoy playing instruments. I play piano and violin. I've been playing piano for six years. I play all kinds of music on the piano but my favorite is Disney music. It is a lot of fun. I think if you know how to play piano you can play anything.Piano is a main instrument and you learn fingering and how to read music as well. For four years I've been playing violin. I love it! I play for my orchestra class, family, friends and I also play for NYSSMA, a very prestigious orchestra. When I was asked to play for NYSSMA I thought it was a great honor. Not everybody gets the opportunity to play for such a thing. Meg and I both accepted to join NYSSMA and now we've been playing for two years. It is challenging but when you get to play you feel like your fingers are flying. When I'm not playing and I watch others play I think of the fingering and how I wish to play. I don't officially play the guitar but my brother and friend do. They have been helping me and I can play a little bit, but no chords or anything! Music is a big part of my life!
In school I'm in newspaper, yearbook and I'm part of many plays we put on. I like to write and take pictures but most of all I like to act. It is a lot of fun too! For my school I've been in Grease and Bye Bye Birdie. I also go to a camp for theatre and for there I've been in Hello Dolly, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Annie, Fame, Susical the Musical and Chicago. They were all phenomenal! Acting is a great skill to have. You become more open if you aren't all ready and you learn to improvise! In school I am in Math A (high school, honors math), Earth Science (high school, 9th grade, science) and the National Junior Honor Society. I have also been taking Spanish. It is exciting to learn a second language. All the classes are hard but they are very helpful.
Like Meg, I am a HUGE Yankee fan! I love the Yankees but my favorite player is Hideki Matsui. I love to root for my favorite team! I love to play baseball, but I also love to run. I am on the varsity track and cross country team. I just recently found that I love to run. It is a great way to get into shape and to clear your mind.
Working on this Thinkquest project and on previous ones gave me great experiences. I've learned who to use flash, fireworks, dreamweaver and a lot more. The best part of it is working with my friends and my former science teacher. They all contribute to the site equally. I want to thank Mrs.T for helping me as well as my friends to achieve this goal. I also want to thank Mr.S for teaching me how to make flash movies. I especially want to thank my friends for sticking with me and listening to my ideas. This is a great site that I am proud of and I hope you like it too!
