Rachel Brown
Rachel was born on November 23, 1898. She invented the world's fist useful antibiotic. She was a researcher for The New York State Department of Health. Rachel and her partner Elizabeth Hazen shared tests and samples of the antibiotic. Rachel added the skills needed to identify, and characterize the hundreds of substances provided by culturing bacteria. The antibiotic was named Nystatin for the state of New York. Rachel Fuller Brown died on January 14,1980.
