Leech in medical science

The avult known as (medical ) leech is a 1-20 cms long water predatory. Its back and lateral part is brownish black, its flank is olive green and the body is spindle shaped. The animal have simple nervous system which is provided with longitudinal concentrical muscles. In state of rest it relaxes in crescen shaped on plants or under the standing out part of the water. Leech swims like a snake in vertical direction. On shore it moves forward by spanning. If it does not reach water within 20 ms it could dry out depending ont he amount of moisture of the air.

The use of this animal has been looked back for more than a thousand year and that is proved by written documents from the Middle Ages.

The leech is placed on different parts of the human body. The treatment happens with „sucking on”

              

The animal simple sucks the adequate amount of blood of its size ( 1-3 cm3) while it gets its spit through the wound which has curing effect for various diseases.

The component of spit known as hirudin inhibit blood from coagulation, is used to treat and to prevent the developement of  pthrombosis. The spit of the leech increases the flexibility of blood-vessels in the system. Hirudin cures arteriosclerosis, degrees hifh blood pressure by the sucked out amount of blood. It stimulates blood circulation.  It alpplies to the cure of  bloodshots around the bruised wound. It makes the system’s immunity stronger, reduceces the life ability of pathogenics, it influences favourably the signs of inflamations and relives asthma.

Hirudin is also effective to treat the convulsive limbs, oedematose legs and piles. In cosmetic the leech’s spit is known as recuperative  medication/drug???. It reduces the signs of allergy and prevents them.
