THE CAREER GAME If you want to have a career in athletics you need to find out more about the different kinds of occupations in the profession. You clearly know of the obvious career choices, such as a coach or a player, but you may not know how many different choices there are out there. ARE YOU REALLY GOING PRO? One reason many athletes put off a career search is that they have aspirations of playing professionally. Realistically, the chance of being a pro athlete is really low. The NCAA has studied this issue and produced a document calculating the chances of NCAA athletes even starting a pro career. THESE STATISTICS ARE SHOCKING! 1. An NBA team will draft less than one in 75, or exactly 1.3 percent, of NCAA men senior b-ball players. 2. A WNBA team will draft one in 100, or exactly 1 percent of the NCAA women senior basketball players
