Larry Bird was the NBA’s most valuable player (1982-1984); he was also a twelve-time NBA All-Star and a long distance shootout winner; was in the NBA finals (1984, 1986), led the NBA in free throw shooting (1984,1986,1990); was a member of gold metal-winning U.S. Olympic Team (1992); was also named Indiana Pacers President of Basketball Operations on July 11,2003; scored 21,791 points (24.3 points per game) in 897 professional games, including a career-high 28.1 points per game in 1987; and scored a career and team-high 60 points against the Atlanta Hawks in New Orleans on March 25,1985.
