George Ger vin

George Gervin was born on April 27, 1952 in Detroit, MI.  He was a twelve-time consecutive ABA/NBA All-Star (ABA:1974-76, NBA: 1977-85); All-ABA Rookie team (1973); All-ABA Second Team (1975, 1976); NBA All-Star MVP (1980); All-NBA First Team (1978-82) and Second Team (1977, 1983).

He was joined by Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain as the only players to win four or more NBA scoring titles (1978-80, 1982).  He scored 26,595 career points.  In nine NBA seasons (1976-85), he led San Antonio to five Midwest Division titles, averaging 27.0 ppg in the playoffs.  The San Antonio Spurs retired his number 44 jersey (Dec. 5, 1987).  He was one of four charter members inducted into San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame (Feb. 3, 1995).

He also founded the George Gervin Youth Center, Inc., a non-profit organization focusing on the development of disadvantaged "at-risk" youth (1989).
