Interesting facts

An American biologist K. Dodge observed a 35 year old S. King, Oregon, who had been suffering from headaches for all her life. The scientist porved the connection between her headaches and the increases in local seismic and volcanic activities. The conclusion was proved when King's headache helped to predict St. Helen volcano eruption on May, 9, and California earthquakes on April, 26 and May, 17, 1981.

In 1965 a strong shock shaked a Yugoslavian town Banya-Luka. A local seismologist appealed to people and the authroties to leave houses. Everybody did so and in 20 minutes the main shock completely destroyed the town. But noone was hurt!

Several similar cases can be found in literature. For example, Plinius Senior wrote that the Greek philosopher Anaximan Miletsky (VI BC) predicted an earthquake in Sparta. Soon after the prediction the city was ruined.
