Clothes & Hair
In the early 1960’s woman had bouffant hair styles and
knee-length skirts. While men had crew cuts and plaid button down the
front shirts. In the mid 60’s women’s hair was either very
very short or long. Go-go boots were often worn with miniskirts or hot
pants which were revealing legs. On the other hand men’s hair
was longer and wider than ever with moustaches and/or beards. Bright
color double breasted jackets and turtle necks were also popular. Girls
would wear peasant skirts, granny dresses, and chunky shoes. On the
other hand unisex dressing was popular; bellbottom jeans, love beads,
and embellished t-shirts and African Americans of both genders would
have afros hairstyles.
