Capybaras are one of the mammals in the Amazon rainforest. They are the world’s largest rodent weighing up to 150 pounds and are about four feet long. The Capybara has tough skin with some hair scattered throughout its body. Capybaras are often brown or red in color.

Many feel the Capybara resembles and oversized guinea pig. The Capybara is the largest rodent in the world. The capybara’s ears, eyes, and nostrils are on the top of its head because it spends much of its time in water, often sleeping with just its nose above the water. Capybaras have a live span of about eight to ten years in the wild and are often hunted for their hide and meat.
