Scotland
Forever, the direction of Scotland’s advancement was guided by
the battles between Scotland, and England. Most of the battles that guided
Scotland, took place on their own grounds. There were great losses for
England, and great victories. Also, it is not unknown for Scotland to
invade its larger neighbors.
First Scotland has always hated having England around. This has caused many
of the battles between them. About ¾ of all the battles England has
fought is because of France. For example, when a bunch of English soldiers
and King Edward II were marching to relieve Sterling Castle the Scottish ambushed
them. They killed about 750 men and the Scottish lost around 10. At the end
of the battle the only English people that escaped were the king and a few
soldiers. Battles like these are the ones which have made the two countries
have such a bad relationship.
Over a thousand years the battles between the two countries have never turned
into a war. They have fought easily over 50 battles without declaring war.
The reason for this is unknown. Maybe the two just never got committed enough
to wage war, or England was too afraid to loose any more casualties than they
already lost. This is due to the wars that England has fought against France.
Another reason why Scotland has fought so many battles against England was
because of land. We all know that Scotland is not a very big country, and if
you were Scotland, I bet you would invade England too. The reason for invading
England was in my opinion a fair reason. Scotland could have just decided to
stay at home and be peaceful. Or they could attack another country seizing
its land and resources. The choice they made is obvious.
In the end England has made the best of its enemy, and has forgotten about
the past. Right now England and Scotland are “allies” but that
could change. The relationship between the two is like playing Russian roulette.
The deaths, victories, losses, and changes have been made and put to the best
of England’s use. For they now know the mistakes they have made. And
they are learning from them as they make them.
