You drop your pack and pick up the stick near your left foot, knowing that the bear is only a stupid animal and it would be easy to outsmart-
BAM!
While you were busy thinking about how much smarter you were than the average bear, that "stupid animal" merely swung its meaty paw into the side of your head. You died instantly, and the bear only proceeded in destroying another pack as well as yours.
