Summary: Chapter 6 Lenina goes to a wrestling match with Bernard, although he is reluctant. He is depressed the whole day, but refuses to take soma. On their return home Bernard hovers his helicopter above the channel. Lenina ask him to take her away for the empty feeling that the water gives her, ad he tells her that the silence makes him feel like an individual. He eventually takes a large dose of soma and Bernard and Lenina have sex. The next day Bernard shows regret for having had sex with Lenina the first night. And he goes and asks the DirectorÕs permission to visit the Reservation. The Director begins to tell Bernard about a trip he once took with a woman to the Reservation, and she disappeared, when Bernard tells him that he must have been shocked, the Director realized that he was revealing too much about his personal life, so he responds by being very harsh to Bernard and tells him that if he keeps being unsocial he will exile him to Iceland. Bernard leaves feeling proud that he is a rebel. Then Lenina and Bernard go to get a signature from the warden, while talking to him Bernard remembers that he has left his scent tap on He calls Helmholtz to ask him to turn it off, and Helmholtz tell him that the Director is planning to carry out his threat to exile him. Bernard is no longer proud off being a rebel, and he becomes frightened. Lenina ten convince him to take some soma. |
