You do it too

Use our calculator to find out how much pollution you cause per year and find out what you can do to make up for it

In helping us spread the word, you're making a difference! It means that you are being a part of a global campaign to better the living condition of the world's poor and in helping us and other MDG advocates promote the importance of the Millenium Development Goals and Young People's contribution in achieving it. Here are basic references and tips.

You can start by downloading this poster (click the image). Made by Taking IT Global. You can print this and post it on your school's bulletin information board. You can also ask for your teacher's help in printing and distributing this. Below are other ways on how you can help Spread the Word!

Write a Letter

Writing a letter to your Representative can be the strongest form of action you can take to support our Campaign. We can help you with your efforts with these tips, and we can further assist you as you progress. Take the time to sit down and write to your Representative.
  • What to include in your letter.
  • State your purpose for writing in the first paragraph.
  • Personalize your letter. Avoid the look of a form letter. Personalized letters have a greater impact on decisionmakers.
  • When writing to any government official, always spell their name correctly. Sometimes simple names can cause big problems.
  • Be sure to mention that you live in your Representative's area.
  • Explain to your Representative how the issue will directly affect your community and in what possible ways you are planning to participate.
  • Quote some facts from our website and include our link: youngmdg.com so your representative can see what others are doing about the MDGs.
  • Try to make your letter articulate, convincing and with a powerful tone.
  • Remember to keep us informed about how you get on by emailing us so we will know how we can help you.
Be sure that this letter will be a starting tool and with the help of your representative, the information of the Millenium Development Goals will hopefully be disseminated in your area.

Use Your Art

Have you an idea how powerful your art can be? It can be a great tool to speak out your mind. According to Arts for Development: "it creates common grounds for stakeholders in community development."

You can also join online competitions like TIG's Global Gallery and Arts 4 Development.

This picture above signifies "Together we are better," so talk to people (in your community and in online disscussion boards) and find out what they have been doing and use some of their strategies in your own country. Or make it into a cartoon.
