Hot Air Balloon
Hot air balloons come in many shapes and sizes.
Hot air balloons have only been around for about 30 years. The year that
you are considered a Pioneer is 1975. Gas balloons have been around for
hundreds of years. They are even used today but only about a hundred remain.
These balloons are filled with gases that are lighter-than-air, these
are the same ideas that are applied to blimbs.
The most common shape is the shere but some have made balloons called
Special Shape balloons. One of the most known is the Energizer Bunny.
Other shapes are the Vigin Air Plane balloon and the very basic special
shape the Tetrahedron(a four sided triange).
Hot air balloons are first pumped up with cold air with a fan. When the
envelope is full is full you use a burner to heat up the air which creates
lift. That is how balloons fly.
You can not control the direction that a balloon goes, the only thing
that you have control of is up or down. You can use this to go up and
down through the sky to try to find a wind that you like but when you
come down you have to remeber that the wind is going a different direction.
When you use hot air balloons you need a team of people which is called
the crew and chase crew. These are the people that help you set up,inflate,
rise, and chase the balloon. You needed this crew to chase the balloon
through it's flight so when you land they are there ready to help assist
the deflation and packing the envelope away. You can conmunicate to the
chase crew using walkie talkies and a GPS to find out the speed and direction
to relay to your crew so they can change directions when you do.
