It also is the most widespread and the number one weather-related
killer.

flood is the condition of too much of water in a certain area
in a period of time.
- The
water can come from many sources, rivers, seas, etc.
Floods can be fast or slow rising, but most of them last for a quite
long period of time.
- Scientists
can predict them most of the time, but it’s not a guarantee.
- There
are many different kinds of floods. They are regional floods,
coastal floods, flash floods, river floods, dam-failure floods,
mudflow floods, etc.
- The
most dangerous of all is flash floods. Many people have died
in flash floods. The reason we call it flash floods because
it comes as a surprise, when the rain falls in an abnormally
great rate. Thus, people don’t know about it and there’s
not a high chance to survive. Most flash floods occur in warm
seasons.
- Floods
can occur in the areas, which are very far away from the storm
or heavy rain.

Floods
can happen anywhere in the world, even in the deserts. They can
occur at anytime, day or night. Floods can happen more often
in the low, flat areas, which are near or around the rivers.
Floods have damaged many cities, and killed thousands of people.
According to scientists, floods are the most common natural disaster
in the United States in the 20th century. They have caused billions
of dollars in damages all around the world.
