The artificial cell is being developed by  NASA. The cell is more useful than our regular red blood cell. Red blood cells only carry oxygen. The artificial cell can carry oxygen and medicine. The cell can be stored for years and months at a time. Transfusions can be performed with these cells with no risk of AIDs or any other disease. People, such as medics, are able to carry this cell around on a battlefied. The artificial cell has a cell membrane surrounding it which is made up of molecules called a polymer.
