A major caution before we begin. Forensic scientists work in the justice system. It is true that it is a criminal who can understand every move of an other criminal, but still if you have a criminal record, you have virtually no chance of getting a job as a forensic scientist. If you use drugs (and in Miami, even tobacco) you usually can forget it. Life ain't fair! There are lots of good jobs that overlook youthful indiscretions but the justice system does not.

Allele: Any of several alternative forms of a gene located at the same point on a particular pair of chromosomes. For example, the genes determining bood types A and B are alleles.
