Taking baths has been an integral part of Japanese
life. It was not until the middle of this century that the provision of
a water supply made it possible for most people to provide ofuro, although
the onsen and the sento remain popular for many Japanese people. People
say that the Japanese baths mean much more than just getting yourself clean.
When someone steps into the ofuro and sinks slowly into the deep clean
hot water you will feel the warm and calm sensation of calmness. You will
sit there and after you sit there for a while, then you get out and wash
yourself with soap and then you rinse off and you get in the ofuro bath
and soak again. If you ever go to Japan then try the ofuro bath.
