Horses are animals that need lots of care and attention. They are both herbivores and foragers, so they only eat plants, no meats. Their diet includes different grasses and foraged plants. The food that they eat is made up of protein, energy, fiber, minerals, vitamins, and water. They need lots of these things, especially energy. They need lots of energy to replace all the energy that use in all the activites they do, and also for replacing the cells that its system uses everyday. As everybody knows, horses love to chew. To satisfy the horses urge to chew you should provide the horse with plenty of nutrients by feeding them high quality hay on a regular basis. Horses are usually kept in habitats with extreamly high feed quality and nutrient density, and have a very low oppertunity for activity. This can increase the likelihood of diet-realted diseases. To prevent these kind of diseases fom happening, it requires an understanding of their causes, and vigilance. Racing horses' nutrition is very important, becasue if they don't get the right ammount they need they may bleed, blow tendons and ligaments, crack or break bones, or get very sore. But proper nutrition can fix these problems. |
