Jerboa

Jerboas are fascinating creatures.  They have a rat-like tail, and strong rabbit legs-yet the head and body of a mouse.  Jerboas live in the Sahara Desert, eating cacti and drinking no liquids at all. Rumor has it that Jerboas have prehensile tails, but that is false.

Jerboas are excellent athletes. Within every jump, it accomplishes up to 13cm! This means that Jerboas can speed up to 25km per. hour when being chased by a larger animal!

Jerboas live in tunnels in the ground. By living underground they can escape from the heat of the day in hot deserts, and from the cold of the winter in cold deserts. Jerboas are swift diggers. They use their short forearms to scrape at the soil, then use their hind legs to push the soil out behind him.

The Jerboa is an amazing animal indeed!!
