Harbor of Rio de Janiero
The Harbor at Rio de Janiero is located on the east coast of Brazil. It is in Guanabara bay and the Atlantic ocean. It was discovered by early Portuguese explorers. The explorers kept track of their whole adventure. They discovered the harbor in 1502, in the month of January, and named it Rio de Janiero which means "River of January" in honor of the month it was discovered.
The harbor is slowly sinking along the bay. Every year the harbor is getting smaller to make room for homes and other public places. Today if you go there you will see many ships and boats in the harbor and many beautiful skyscrapers in the city. Sugar loaf mountain is a 1,325 mountain that looks over the bay. Many other mountains surround this areas. Many activities there include scuba diving, snorkling, jet skiing and many other fun things. It would be a GREAT place to go on vacation.
