The Grand Canyon is an amazing sight to see all year round. In 1893 the Grand Canyon was the first protected national park in America. It is located in Arizona. The Canyon lies on the Colorado Plateau. It was carved by a rushing flow of water. Believe it or not, there are forests at the higher elevations. There are many activities to do such as camping, lodging, and mule rides down the canyon. The lower elevations mostly consist of desert basins. The Grand Canyon has a climate from hot dry climates to chilly mountain climates. There are hikes and many trails leading to their own fantastic views. There is also a train running through the canyon and there are a few fabulous restaurants. You would never have to sleep under the stars in the Grand Canyon because there are so many ranches and hotels, although you might want to. Everywhere you go there are different views, with little foot paths leading to the different views of this magnificent canyon.
