DO'S AND DON'TS

 

 

What should you do when a guide dog come nears you???  Here are some tips from the Guide Dog Foundation.

DO'S DON'TS
Allow the guide dog to continue its work Don't distract a guide dog while it is wearing its harness
Give the dog respect of a working dog Don't treat a guide dog like a regular house pet                                             
Allow the owner to do so  Don't give the guide dog his commands
 Assist the owner when he requests help Don't try to take control of an unfamiliar situation with a guide dog
Walk on the dog's right side. Don't walk on the dog's left side                                                                    
 Give the dog patience, perseverance, and time Don't expect too much too quick

Let the master decide where the dog should go

Don't let the dog on your furniture.
Understand what the owner wants Don't let the dog out of the house without supervision   
Respect that the dog needs a balanced diet Don't give the dog human food ( ice cream, etc.)
Allow the dog to rest undisturbed  Don't allow kids to tease or hurt the dog
